Nested
Nested was a big hit! RNL released this international cassette compilation on our label, Vonconflon, in the fall of 2025. This featured unreleased tracks from established and rising voices, including Rimarimba, Alexander Ross (Fantastic Palace), Tomutonttu, Manoir Molle, Günter Schlienz, Kevin Micka (Animal Hospital) and Noell Dorsey (Major Stars), Ksenija Sundejeva (Tribes of the City), and RNL. “They are the insects and mice who have burrowed inside an ancient TV cabinet, tasting its circuits and wires. ” Colorama in Berlin did a gorgeous job on the risograph artwork, which features illustrations by Jasmine Justice. We were honored to receive airplay on BBC Radio 3 and WFMU and a great review in Chain D.L.K. You can stream the full album or buy a cassette at the Vonconflon Bandcamp.
Berlin Now and Never
Berlin Now and Never leads off with two RNL tracks. This extremely limited edition of handmade collaged tapes from Staaltape has special meaning for me, because Staaltape was responsible for some of the very first experimental recordings I ever heard. Their releases from Nurse With Wound, Z’ev, Zoviet France, and particularly The Hafler Trio had a deep, lasting impact on me. The label has evolved over the decades, but it’s maintained its unique artistic vision. This release initiates a collaboration with Anagram Space, the Berlin shop and gallery where you can find other tapes and zines of mine. We have only one copy available for sale! Anxiety Engine and Inhibitor on Soundcloud
Anxiety Engine and Inhibitor is a pair of new RNL pieces from late 2024, made to accompany an installation by artist Brian Zegeer. We are huge fans of his work, which blends sculpture, animation, photography, CG, drawing, and just about every form of creativity you can think of. These pieces are fragments of the ongoing projects we’ve been working on. We hope to bring more of this collaboration to you soon, as it’s been a joy to bring our similar sensibilities together!
In the Wild
Low stock alert! We’ve only got a few copies left of the limited edition cassette of The Living Things. Some are also available from a handful of particularly interesting shops. More Airwaves
Two more radio shows featured RNL recently. Tony Coulter played two from The Living Things on his July 16th episode, now archived. Listen to it at WFMU. Tony is an amazing explorer and selector of idiosyncratic, homemade, and experimental sounds, ranging from the beautiful to the grotesque.
